About the Women's and Children's Hospital

Education and Training

The WCHN contributes to the training of future generations of Australian and overseas health professionals, working collaboratively with other education and training providers and in particular with the three South Australian universities.

Ongoing education and training for our staff will help ensure that we continue to provide effective, high quality and appropriate services for our consumers.

The Centre for Education and Training provides a wide ranging program of training, education, courses and educational support for WCHN nursing, midwifery and medical staff and for other health care professionals.

The Hospital also provides opportunities for tertiary and post-graduate placements. However, we are at present unable to provide placements for Year 11 and 12 work experience.

The Hospital School provides schooling for children who are in hospital frequently or for a prolonged period, and is located on the Ground floor in the Good Friday Building. School personnel at the hospital work in close partnership with WCH staff to support students' learning. The Hospital School is available for ambulatory patients from the country as well as inpatients and their siblings.
