Winter is coming and that means it's the time when the flu cases increase. There is a free flu vaccine for all children aged six months to less than five years. It is also free for any aged children with ongoing medical conditions like asthma, diabetes or heart conditions.
People who are at a higher risk of getting severe complications can also receive a free flu vaccine. This includes pregnant women, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples six months or older, and people with ongoing medical conditions. Although not free, all people not listed above can also receive the flu vaccine. Please speak to your community immunisation provider for advice or contact the Women's and Children's Hospital Immunisation Clinic on 8161 6316.
More information about the free flu vaccine is available at www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/flu.
