In times of crisis, we know families can experience an increased level of stress and vulnerability.
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) plays an important role in the community supporting children, young people and their families.
We encourage you to continue to access CAMHS, however, most appointments will now be conducted by phone or video consultation. Should families (or caregivers/stakeholders who have consent) have concerns regarding current clients, you are encouraged to discuss these with your treating clinician. If you are seeking to refer a new child or young person to CAMHS, contact our centralised triage service, CAMHS Connect, on 1300 222 647.
Services listed below may also have outreach visiting services to other locations. Contact those below to find out if there is an outreach service closer to you.
Young people and parents can make a referral to CAMHS by calling CAMHS Connect on 1300 2 CAMHS (1300 222 647), Monday to Friday, from 9.00am – 5.00pm, excluding public holidays.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can also contact an Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker directly at their local CAMHS Community team.
CAMHS is keen to know more about how members of the LGBTQI+ community experience our services to help us improve and ensure we are inclusive and welcoming.
The CAMHS Rainbow group – a group of clinicians, young people, and peer workers – is surveying young LGBTQI+ people and their carers/parents. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. All feedback will be treated confidentially.
The survey is open until March 2021.
