2018 Redesign of South Australian CAMHS

Throughout 2017 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) consulted on a proposed organisational structure with its consumers, carers, workforce, unions, and key partners.

The structure has now been endorsed and CAMHS is moving forward with implementation. The structure addresses the final recommendations from the PDF icon2014 Review of South Australian CAMHS (PDF - 4.3mb) and provides a strong platform to deliver excellent contemporary mental health services to children, young people, women in the perinatal period, and their families across South Australia.

This milestone will see the introduction of South Australia's first ever child and adolescent centralised triage service, as well as a Mobile Assertive Outreach response to the most vulnerable young people, strengthened clinical governance and leadership capacity, expanded state-wide specialist capacity for Eating Disorders services and an increase Aboriginal workforce across CAMHS.

By the end of 2018, we will truly be providing accessible and consistent child and adolescent mental health services across the state, with the full implementation of our new model of care.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who contributed for their feedback and involvement throughout the redesign process. We will keep you updated with service changes in CAMHS, and welcome any feedback as we move forward with implementing the new structure.
