Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2018: ‘Because of Her, We Can!’

From 8 to 15 July 2018, NAIDOC Week celebrations will be held across Australia to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The theme for this year’s celebrations is ‘Because of Her, We Can!’, which acknowledges, honours and pays tribute to the role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women play today, and have played throughout history, in caring for their families, communities, cultures and country.

NAIDOC Week is celebrated not only in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support our Aboriginal community.

The Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) will be celebrating this important event with a number of activities held throughout the week, including:

There are also a number of events happening across SA Health and more broadly in the community. Visit the Link iconNAIDOC South Australia website for a full list of events coordinated by the NAIDOC SA Committee, including the Adelaide City Council Lord Mayor’s Morning Tea and the Family Fun Day, which includes the NAIDOC March.
