SA Health Research Ethics and Governance Fees Schedule

A fee structure applies within the South Australian public health system for the review of research ethics applications and research governance applications. Not all applications incur a review fee, but some types of applications do.

Applicants should review the SA Health Research Ethics and Research Governance Fees Schedule (effective 11 December 2017) to determine if a fee may apply for review of their study.

For advice on seeking a reduction or waiver of the specific fee included in the Schedule, please refer to the SA Health Fees Schedule for Research – Information for Applicants.

Generally, a reduction or waiver of fees will only be considered where appropriate evidence is provided in support of one or more of the following:

- there is no available funding held by the institution to cover the fee; and/or

- the conduct of the study would be jeopardised if the reduction or waiver of fees was not granted; and/or

- there would be an adverse impact on patient treatment/care if the reduction or waiver was not granted and the research study did not proceed at the site.

Please be aware that requests for a waiver of fees are not made directly to the WCHN Research Secretariat. Applicants are to submit a written request via an appropriate financial officer on behalf of the applicant's institution (e.g., Business Manager). A request for a waiver of fees must be made prior to submission of the SSA to the WCHN RGO.

Applications for studies with full commercial sponsorship are not eligible to receive a reduction or waiver of fees.

Where a waiver of fees has not been approved, please submit the Fee Form with your SSA application to the RGO.
