SA Clinical Genetics Service
The SA Clinical Genetics Service is a Department in the Directorate of Genetics & Molecular Pathology in SA Pathology. It provides a clinical genetics and genetic counselling service within South Australia and in neighbouring areas of adjacent states.
Services are provided through a network of clinics at the WCH, the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Lyell McEwin Health Service, Port Augusta Hospital, Whyalla Hospital and Mount Gambier Hospital.

Our Service consists of three units:
The Adult Genetics Unit provides diagnostic and counselling services for genetic disorders which occur in adults.
The Metabolic Clinic manages inherited disorders of metabolism which occur during childhood.

The Paediatric & Reproductive Genetics Unit provides diagnostic and counselling services for genetic disorders which occur during prenatal development or childhood, and for prenatal genetic testing.
How to access the service
To make an appointment at any of our clinic sites, post or fax a referral letter to the Head of the relevant Unit above. A referral letter from a medical practitioner is required. Referral from other health professionals will be accepted in some circumstances.
