Boylan ward is one of four clinical areas to be redeveloped, with works to commence in late 2019/20.
Boylan Ward currently provides services for children and adolescents who are voluntary or under a variety of legal orders. Because Boylan is an open ward, closed facilities such as an High Dependency Unit cannot be provided for children and adolescents who present a risk to themselves or others under the Mental Health Act however the facility may be locked to manage young people with these presentations. How to Access Our ServiceBoylan Ward provides inpatient services for children and adolescents from metropolitan Adelaide and from rural and remote parts of South Australia and some rural sites such as , APY lands in Northern Territory, Broken Hill in NSW and Mildura in Victoria. Children and adolescents between 3 and 17 years who have complex problems requiring further assessment to determine diagnosis and treatment needs may be admitted. Most services for children 12 years and under will comprise planned admissions for assessment purposes. The timing of these admissions may need to be altered if at any time the mix of current inpatients is considered to be inappropriate for the admission of younger children.
