Changes to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
We want to provide a mental health service that better meets the needs of children, young people, perinatal women and their families across South Australia.
In 2017, we consulted with consumers, carers, staff, unions, and key partners on a proposed new organisational structure to support a new model of care, which would ensure we are providing the best mental health care to our clients.
The structure has now been endorsed and CAMHS is moving forward with implementation. The structure addresses the final recommendations from the2014 Review of South Australian CAMHS (PDF - 4.3mb), which looked at how CAMHS could provide better care.

When will the changes happen?
Before these changes come in, there is background work that needs to be done with CAMHS staff and the services we work with.
We do not anticipate any changes coming in before the end of 2018.
We will keep you updated about service changes that may affect you well before they are implemented, and welcome any feedback as we move forward.
