Antenatal Gynaecology Ward

Care is provided for

  • women with high risk pregnancies with complications requiring medical support
  • women with gynaecological problems
  • women following surgery

The ward has 30 beds, 14 antenatal, 11 gynaecology, that can be extended to accommodate the Post Natal Ward overflow if available or required. Antenatal care includes assessment of maternal and fetal wellbeing, planning for birth, and education. Gynaecology care includes pre-operative assessment and preparation for surgery, and post-operative care.

The ward is staffed by midwives, who work in conjunction with medical staff, dieticians, physiotherapists, and social workers. Staff liaise with many services, including Aboriginal services, Drug and Alcohol Services, SA Multiple Birth Association and Child and Youth Health.

Women may be admitted as public, private or Midwifery Group Practice patients. Admissions are managed through Women's Admissions or Women's Assessment Service.

Information for Families

Visiting hours are from 1.00pm to 8.00pm

Rooms are either single or share, with telephone and television facilities available for each bed

There is no provision for partners or children to stay overnight in the ward

Facilities available on the ward for women include kitchen, sitting room, craft room and laundry
