nWCH Project year in review – 2020
As the end of the year draws closer, it's a great opportunity to reflect on the extensive list of achievements and key milestones in 2020.
The 2020 year in review video is available here and below. This video is a great reminder of the significant amount of work that was achieved in 2020.
nWCH Project Hits Ground-Breaking Landmark
The nWCH Project has taken another important step, with drilling works underway at the site of what will be our new purpose-built facility.
The preparation works are a vital step in the development of our new hospital which will provide South Australian families with the most advanced hospital care, technology and medical research.
Drilling will take place on the western end of the biomedical precinct, the site identified for our new hospital, co-locating our new facility with the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and within the world-class BioMed City.
The groundworks will involve sampling soil structure and groundwater quality to help inform engineering as part of the master planning for our new hospital.
Samples will be extracted from a number of locations using a large drill rig to bore 100mm holes up to 50 metres down into the earth.
The nWCH Project team have been working closely with Kaurna people, the traditional owners of the site, and Kaurna representatives will be available during the geo-technical process to inspect any artefacts of cultural significance that may be excavated.
