Rose Ward

Rose ward is a 17 bed medical/surgical ward that primarily looks after babies from birth to 12 months.

Babies are admitted to Rose Ward from Admissions or the Paediatric Emergency Department.

Information for families

While your baby is in Rose Ward, the staff would like to make your stay comfortable. Whether your baby has been admitted for an elective procedure or admitted unexpectedly we understand that this can be a stressful time for you and your family.

Partnership in Care

We are committed to the care of your baby in partnership with you. We provide this care within a framework of mutual respect and empathy.

We realise that every parent is an individual and may wish to be involved in different ways. The staff in Rose Ward have an extensive range of skills in caring for babies. Please feel free to discuss your baby's care and your involvement in their care with the nursing staff.

Bed/Room allocation

Beds and rooms are allocated on babies' clinical care needs and not on public/private healthcare status.

Living in

One parent/carer is welcome to stay in the ward overnight.

A small number of 'live in' rooms are available for parents/carers use whilst your baby is in our ward. Other WCH page link iconaccommodation is available at the Link iconRoyal Adelaide Hospital.

If your baby needs to be isolated from other babies, a parent/carer may stay in the single isolation rooms. A fold out sofa bed/recliner chair and linen is provided.

What to bring

The ward supplies baby clothes, nappies, and linen however you may choose to use your own baby's clothes.
