Growth and Development Program

The Growth and Development Program has been established at the WCH because of our committment to monitoring the progress and long term outcomes of very sick term and premature babies.

Premature infants enrolled in the programme include those with a birth weight of less than 1000 grams and/or gestational age of less than 29 completed weeks.

In addition term babies receiving therapeutic hypothermia are also enrolled.

The programme aims to:

Children will be reviewed at one again at two to three year, corrected age.

The Co-ordinator is the family liaison and organises medical and developmental assessments by a team which consists of:

How to Access the Service

The program coordinator will contact families eligible to be enrolled in the program during the baby's stay in the Neonatal Nurseries.


The Coordinator can be contacted Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 4.00pm
